To allow the boards to run smoothly, we also include this Announcements Forum. Indeed, it should be your first stop on the Sunderland Forum. This is because, it includes many notices to help us tick.

Rules and Code of Conduct Here at the Sunderland Forum we need a set of guidelines to help keep the message boards running smoothly. If you feel as if you can't abide by the rules then please do not sign up as we can assure you they will be rigidly enforced. Here are the main set of rules which are subject to change and varying discretion:

01) You must be aged 13 or over to join.
02) Flaming other members will not be tolerated - treat all members with respect.
03) Winding others up and trolling of the forum will not be tolerated. If you are easily wound up then just walk away to avoid confrontation.
04) No swearing is allowed anywhere on the Sunderland Forum.
05) No sexual pictures are allowed but sexy images may be - there is a difference!
06) No pictures of an extreme nature is allowed.
07) No links to either sexually explicit sites or other extreme imagery is allowed.
08) Do not advertise businesses, products for sale or personal sites on the forum.
09) All advertising of anything should be done in the free Sunderland classified adverts site (currently disabled) where you will need to join again but this way you remain anonymous. This way your forum identity will stay safe.
10) Anyone can join the Sunderland Forum but pretending to be a Mackem or pretending to be from Sunderland or masquerading as a SAFC supporter will get you banned.
11) Anything that could be considered racist or homophobic etc., will be deleted and you could be warned or banned.
12) We promote local values including the Mackem language which you can use in your posts but we will not allow "txt spk" - leave that to your mobile phones.
13) The Sunderland Forum is about quality not quantity. We do have a ranking system based on the number of posts you make but please avoid using smilies as a reply in order to increase your number of posts. Try for at least one or two lines as a minimum.
14) The Sunderland Forum has many categories so please use the appropriate forum for your topic. Each one is self-explanatory.
15) You visit Sunderland Forum at your own risk. Occasionally there will be things you find offensive, or insulting. Unfortunately the moderator team cannot read every post. If you see something offensive - report it for consideration.
16) All members are fully responsible for their posts. The Sunderland Forum or anyone associated with it does not accept any responsibility for anything said or posted here. Anything posted here should not be taken as being taken as the views of the Sunderland Forum team, The City of Sunderland, SAFC or any other organisation. They are merely views of individual members of this forum.
17) The Sunderland Forum is a city-wide forum which has many topics. Football is a small part of the forum but is not the main subject, however we do recognise that SAFC is special to many people, and as such, has its own forum for Black Cat fans.
18) When you sign up as a member of the Sunderland Forum it is assumed that you accept the rules and terms and conditions associated with it. You also accept that our policy can change over time and you will attempt to acknowledge any changes.
==================================== Addendum:

Family Forum
The Sunderland Forum is a family forum which can be viewed by anyone whether a member or not (with the exception of a few forums that non members can't view because they are less moderated). This is why we will not allow swearing and promote respect of others.

Members
Behind user names are real people who will have different views and may have a different orientation to yourself. This is why we only allow respect for others.
Posting
Wind Up Merchants will not last too long before being banned. Threads should not be hijacked and allowed to go off topic too much. If you must go off topic then make a new thread!
Posting from other media sources - please do not copy and paste vast amounts of material from other sources. From other media sources it may be acceptable for one or two paragraphs and then a link to it so others can view the original text themselves.
Sour grapes
Admin and Moderators decisions are final so please don't be offended. Also, please do not argue with them as they have already given up much of their time to police the boards.
