Alternative weekly bin collections come to Sunderland

Firstly, the Sunderland Forum is all about local issues. The City of Sunderland obviously includes, Washington, Houghton and Hetton. However, we allow news, views and gossip from all areas surrounding Wearside.

Alternative weekly bin collections come to Sunderland

Don't worry, the green bins for general waste will still be collected weekly, for the time being!
It is the blue recycling bins that will become fortnightly collections.
This will come into force this April (2017).
Sunderland Council say they have to do this to save money.
So there you have it, if the recycling was paying off, why would they do this?
I hope you all remember which week is which because I won't
I might have the day off today!

This was spoken about before.
If this is only for the recycling bins, people will put the recycling stuff in the general household waste bins when the blue ones get full.
I am not sure if this is the way to go but I can understand the councils wanting to save money.

This was for the green bins iirc so maybe they backed down on that.
